What is Waste Water?
Waste Water is water that has been used in industrial processes that sometimes contains solids.
What does a waste water pump do?
A Waste Water Pump, sometimes referred to as a Dirty Water Pump, is used for pumping and transferring waste water, as well as emptying sumps or dosing chemicals in order to treat dirty water.
What is the process involved in Wastewater Treatment?
- Separating sludge from the rest of the water
- Transferred between tanks
- Treating water with chemicals
What pumps can we supply?
BBA’s B-Series – Self-Priming Centrifugal Pump
BBA’s B-Series range of Self-Priming Centrifugal Pumps are fitted with an open impeller to handle large solids making them a strong contender when choosing a pump for waste water management. Due to their reliable technology and easy maintenance, they are an excellent choice for waste water.
Industrial Centrifugal Pump
Industrial Centrifugal Pumps have a high corrosion resistance that makes them perfect for transferring sludges, dosing acids and alkalis and other applications associated with Water Treatment. These Pumps have less parts and low maintenance costs meaning they are an excellent option where a Centrifugal Pump is required at a competitive price!
Self-Priming Industrial Centrifugal Pump
Self-Priming Industrial Centrifugal Pumps are ideal for applications such as tank cleaning, batching of chemicals, tank to tank transfer in the waste water industry. They can handle solids up to 6mm, can be ATEX rated and can handle highly aerated fluids.
Salvatore Robuschi Centrifugal Pump
Salvatore Robuschi Centrifugal Pumps are bespoke systems, tailor made per the customer’s requirements. They continue to support customer needs whilst maintaining quick lead teams by their products being designed for modularity. Robuschi Pumps focus on a core product that can then be adapted and built easily for per each customer, for example, they can be supplied with close, open, vortex or channel impellers.
Metal Diaphragm Pump
Metal Diaphragm Pumps are perfect for emptying sumps. Diaphragm Pumps can run dry for long periods of time which means they are perfect for emptying tanks and sumps, paired with their high suction lift and self-priming capabilities.
Filter Press Diaphragm Pumps are available in HDPE and Metal, these are used for pressing slurries which makes it easier to transfer waste.
The PT Peristaltic Pump is ideal for transferring waste water and for use in waste water treatments plants as these pumps are perfect for handling fluids with solids, aggressive liquids or those containing gases with high viscosity at high pressures of up to 15 Bar.
Safety Features for Wastewater Treatment
We know it’s important to protect your pump from the chemicals used in water treatment, as well as protecting the surrounding environment and your employees from waste water leakages and protecting your business from environmental fines.
Our range of pumps come with their own range of benefits and accessories; below is a list of potential safety features associated with Water Treatment Plants and pumping wastewater.
The Guardian System, designed in the UK, is ideal for chemical leakages. This accessory monitors the pressure of the liquid being pumped through your Diaphragm Pump. The Guardian System can control the running of the pump, including completely stopping the pump and sounding an alarm in the case of a chemical leak.
An important safety feature when working with Waste Water Treatment is to use an ATEX rated pump when pumping liquids containing explosive gases. Many of our pumps can be supplied with ATEX certification, please ask the Sales Team for more details on ATEX rated waste water pumps. Pumps that are ATEX rated particularly for wastewater treatment that involves explosive gases.
One pump that could be useful in the event of a leak is a Peristaltic Pump as it will ensure the environment outside of your pump is protected to prevents your business incurring fines. This is because only the hose comes into contact with the product being pumped; this pump design does not incorporate seals which means that leakages are kept inside the pump casing.
Whatever pump you choose, you can be safe in knowing that TS Pumps will supply you with a reliable pumping solution for safe and effective Waste Water Treatment.
